show rings all over the country.
Our Stallions
We
are very sad to announce the passing of this great stallion on May 26, 2003, at
the age of 22. He left behind many wonderful offspring and 2 stallion sons
who will carry on for him. RIP, Fyre boy. We'll miss hearing you
whinney to us whenever we came into your barn.
Fyre One - A fabulous, extremely athletic homzygous black pure Polish Arabian stallion by the legendary
*Aladdinn and out of Fyre-Love, a champion *Bask+++
daughter who, at $1.5 million was the second highest price EVER PAID for an
Arabian mare at public auction. Fyre
produced exquisite show Arabians when bred to purebred Arabian mares and stamped his foals from other breeds of mare with elegance, lightness and an intelligent, willing disposition. Whether you wanted a fancy Arabian show horse or an athletic sport horse this guy
did not disappoint you. He was Sweepstakes and Futurities nominated and tested SCID clear.
See more of Fyre and some of his get.

BF Saturn Fyre is a stunning
2003 bay colt by Fyre One (*Aladdinn x Fyre Love x
*Bask) and out of the Imperial Saturn
daughter, Saturn's Diamond (see her photo and info above.) He is a very solid and correct colt with a bright future ahead in the show ring and as a sire. He has really good bone and lovely movement.
When started under saddle, he was viewed by a top cutting horse trainer who thought
he might be Nationals quality for the cutting horse ring! We don't
have much experience there, but have put him in full training with Clint Kolz,
who thinks he's definitely got what it takes. Look for him in the Arabian
Cutting Horse Nationals in 2008! He won't be offered at stud until 2009.
New pics coming soon!
Our Broodmares
We offer a unique service to those who have always wanted to custom make their own horse. You no longer have to buy a quality broodmare, pay the board and upkeep on her, get her bred, deal with the pregnancy and the foaling, and spend countless hours working with a new foal. We offer you a wonderful alternative. You may select one of our large variety of lovely, proven broodmares. Then choose any stallion in the world that offers shipped semen. We will handle EVERYTHING else. We will coordinate with the stallion handler, supervise the insemination, handle all the vet checks, maintain the mare, administer all the inoculations, spend the countless hours of "foal watch," attend the foaling, imprint the foal, handle the daily training and the weaning of the foal. When the foal is 4 months old, you pick up your custom-made horse -- guaranteed to lead, tie, bathe, clip and load quietly. Price of in-house leasing of the broodmare depends upon the mare chosen. In addition to the lease price of the mare, you would be responsible for the stallion fees and any vet fees associated with the insemination, pregnancy and foaling.
What could be easier?

Feiner
Fantasy - Known here as "Fancy," this gorgeous girl is by
Feiner Stern and out of our wonderful,
Diende by Diamont.
She is 16.2 hands tall and a stunning sooty bay color with blaze and four even
white stockings. She is in the Hanoverian Main Mare Book. She scored well
at her mare inspection and was named an Elite Mare Candidate. She is currently
under saddle and will take her performance test in fall of 2008. Mares just
don't come much better than this one.
Diende
- This
gorgeous 16.3 hand Hanoverian mare is by the Elite Hanoverian stallion, Diamont,
and out of a daughter of Darwin. She is approved for breeding in the Main
Mare Books of the
American Hanoverian Society, the Oldenburg Verband and the Oldenburg North America. She has produced
awesome foals to date from top stallions, including a fabulous colt in 2002 by
Weltmeyer. Her conformation and movement are just spectacular and she has
the nicest disposition of any mare I have ever known. In 2004 she produced
an exquisite filly by the Elite Imported Hanoverian stallion, Feiner
Stern (see 2004 foals) that we are keeping
for ourselves. In 2005 she had another lovely filly by Feiner Stern that was a
custom foal. In 2006 she had a gorgeous filly by Pablo
that sold before it was even 3 days old! She is being given this year off and
will be bred back in 2008.
Wallstreet
- T his wonderful imported German Hanoverian mare is approved for breeding by the German Hanoverian Verband, the American Hanoverian Association, the Oldenburg Verband and the International Sporthorse Registry/Oldenburg
N.A.. She is a 16.1 hand, seal brown mare who does produce black. She was a successful show jumper before beginning her career as a broodmare. Wallstreet has produced some lovely foals from dressage stallions, but is certainly athletic enough to produce top jumpers, as well. Her foals make excellent amateur riding horses, since they are very easy to handle and train. Her bloodlines are impeccable. Her sire, Waldhorn is found in the pedigrees of several U.S. licensed stallions, including
Wertherson, Wummestern and For Sure. Her dam's sire, Grunewald
was ranked #5 in Europe as a dressage breeding stallion, according to the WBFSH. His son,
Gunox, finished 4th in the world dressage rankings for 1996, and is ridden by Monica Theodorescu of Germany. Wallstreet produced a beautiful filly by
Diamont in June, 1998, which was sold even before it was born to Florida as a young rider's dressage prospect.
Since then she has produced a black Diamont Filly that is performing well in
hunters and dressage (see
Dreamstreet) and a bay Feiner Stern
filly (see Fillistern). We
have kept both these fillies to add to the program.
Note: Although still very sound and
happy, we have chosen to retire Wally (now 23!) from the breeding shed and let
her continue to have fun teaching students to ride and being "Aunty Wally" to
the foals.
Fillistern
- A gorgeous 16.2 hand Hanoverian mare by Feiner Stern (Freiherr/Goldstern/Romulus
II), this daughter of Wallstreet (Waldhorn/Grunewald/Ehrenschild) is a real
love. Feiner Stern is considered to be perhaps the TOP broodmare sire of
all time - even surpassing the great Weltmeyer. He has many, many approved
sons and his daughters are producing approved sons by a variety of stallions.
Her dam carries the good old "G" lines which produce sane, rideable
horses with good soundness. Fillistern has lovely, floating movement and
is very correct. She is now in the Main Mare Book with the Oldenburg Verband and
will be presented for mare approval in October, 2005, to the American Hanoverian
Society. In 2005, she gave birth to a really especially nice custom foal,
a chestnut colt by Routinier. We are concentrating
on her saddle training right now, but will offer her for custom foals again in
2008.
Dreamstreet
- Dreamstreet is a 2000 16.3 hands dark seal bay Hanoverian mare by Diamont, the premier producer of sport horses in North America. A proven dressage sire, Diamont ranked 1st by USDF among Hanoverian stallions and 2nd among all stallions of all breeds for production of dressage horses in the U.S.
Diamont has also produced many hunter champions and in 1997 his son, D'Jango won a jumping championship at the Oaks Jumper Classic in Southern California.
Dreamstreet's dam, Wallstreet, is a Hanoverian mare imported from Germany. Her sire, Waldhorn is found in the pedigrees of several U.S. licensed stallions, including Wertherson, Wummestern and For Sure. Her dam's sire, Grunewald was ranked #5 in Europe as a dressage breeding stallion, according to the WBFSH. His son, Gunox, finished 4th in the world dressage rankings for 1996, and is ridden by Monica Theodorescu of Germany.
Dreamstreet does not carry a chestnut gene, so you will get only a bay or black
base coat on your foal (unless you breed to a gray stallion that contributes his
gray gene - or breed to a stallion that carries a dilute gene like palomino).
She is showing her talent for both hunters and dressage and has the smoothest
gaits you could ever want.
Illusive Dancer
- This outstanding mare was first a very successful race horse, then a champion hunter, and now a top-notch broodmare, producing premium-scoring foals from a variety of stallions. She is a 16.3 hand gray registered with the American Warmblood Society and the America Quarter Horse Association (an appendix mare who earned her full papers). She received a premium score in her mare inspection and is approved by ISR/Oldenburg
N.A. She was Reserve Champion mare at the 1996 Cedar Trace Sporthorse Festival and was 4th in the nation in 1996 with the American Warmblood Society. Dancer has produced very high quality foals from
Holsteiner, Hanoverian and Registered Irish Draught stallions. We believe that Dancer carries only gray color genes. Therefore you can expect her to always produce a gray foal, no matter what color the stallion.
Dancer's first foal, The Irish Dancer, by the Irish Draught stallion, The Irish Rover, is now (at
7 years old) entering the Grand Prix Showjumping ring and doing VERY well. Her next foal, Cosette,
by Coeur de Lion,
is a successful dressage horse in Atlanta, Georgia. Her third foal, Amor
Reta, by
Amor Reto, has just been started under saddle and her California owner says she
shows exceptional talent for both dressage and jumping. In 2001, Dancer gave birth to a first class black/gray filly
named InSync by the Oldenburg stallion,
Ideal. This filly, InSync, was sold as an "A" show hunter
prospect and now lives in Missouri. Dancer's 2002 foal, a super nice colt named Maxximus
by the Oldenburg stallion, Mannhattan,
could well be better than all the others before him. In 2005, she had a custom
foal by Mannhattan. She was given the year off and will be available again in
2007.
Note: We have recently
retired Dancer from the breeding shed and she is now acting as nanny to the
frisky yearlings, teaching them to mind their manners.
Drifter -
Drifter is registered with the Pinto Horse Association and the American Warmblood Society. She is a very substantial 16.1 hand chestnut and white
tovero. Drifter has received her Legion of Merit from PtHA in halter and has been approved by
both the Oldenburg Verband and the ISR/Oldenburg N.A. She is a large-boned mare with a deep chest and ample heart girth. She has very nice movement and a willing attitude that she passes on to her foals. She has produced several gorgeous pinto foals, including one from the
Dutch Warmblood, Rubenstein, and two from our own Fyre One (see BF
Fyrecraker). Drifter’s gorgeous 2000 filly,
Castanet, is by the Holsteiner stallion, Cabaret . Drifter
was bred in spring, 2002, to the Oldenburg stallion, Spectrum for a custom foal.
This foal was a stunning loud chestnut overo (see Spectaculare).
In 2004, Drifter produced an incredible tovero filly by the Holsteiner stallion, Cor
Noir (see Corona Noir here).
BF
Moonfyre - Purebred black Arabian daughter of
our own Fyre One, this gorgeous mare is winning in
open dressage classes against the warmbloods. She is 15.3 hands tall and a
spectacular mover. She is approved in the main mare book of RPSI and can
be presented to any other warmblood registry a breeder would desire. In 2004, Moon gave birth to a stunning black
colt by NV Beau
Bey, who has been chosen to succeed his wonderful grandsire as our Arabian
sport horse stallion. See Black Fyre Bey here.
Moon was bred in 2006 to the Champion stallion of the Arabian Sporthorse
Nationals in 2005, Klint Black, and produced
for us a stunning black filly that we are keeping. See pics of BF Fyres Khyss at
www.sonestafarms.com/2007foals.htm
Saturns Diamond - Diamond is another lovely daughter of the straight Egyptian stallion,
Imperial Saturn. She is nominated to the Egyptian Event and has the best head and eye we have ever seen. Although just coming 3 years old in 2001, we are expecting wonderful things from this gorgeous mare. She was bred to our stallion, Fyre One, in 2001 and in March, 2002, she gave us an absolutely fabulous
colt named BF Imperial Fyre that we are keeping as a stallion prospect.
In 2003 she gave us another gorgeous bay colt by Fyre One, this one named BF
Saturn Fyre.
Darq Velvet - Velvet is a true black Arabian mare by Darq Ali, a son
of Darq by the legendary
Raffon. She is 14.3 hands tall and floats over the ground.
Her 1998 foal, Darq Fahl, by Tali Fahl, has been sold to compete at the National
level in dressage in the Arabian shows. Her first Fyre One foal (a gorgeous black
colt named Darq Fyre) was born on Feb 3, 1999.
This colt was purchased at 5 months old as a stallion prospect. He has already taken first place in stallions 3 years old and under in 2 major Arabian horse shows, including the huge one in the Astrodome! See photos here. Velvet had her 2000 foal by Fyre One on January 29.
This black colt, FyrePower, is now the star of the Practical Horseman Magazine's
Thinking Horseman column, where Kip Goldreyer, his new human, is training him
for a dressage career. Velvet's 2001 foal, a gorgeous black filly by Fyre
One named Fyres Satin Doll, is a real love. Velvet
produced another gorgeous Fyre One son, BF Jet Fyre, in 2003 (see Velvet's
Colt). She was bred in 2006 to BF Imperial Fyre
and gave us a gorgeous black colt with a white skunk stripe in his tail. See BF
Royal Fyre at
www.sonestafarms.com/2007foals.htm .
 Bold
Narkise - We are very sad to
report that Narkise left us on January 26, 2008, to cross that Rainbow Bridge
after a long battle with Cushings. She was 26 years old and very beloved.
She was a wonderful show horse and taught many students to ride and jump.
She will always be missed.
Approved by the Oldenburg Verband, Narkise is truly an Arabian sporthorse. A purebred Arabian carrying the best in Polish, Egyptian and Crabbet bloodlines, including
*Bask, *Raffles, Morafic and Nazeer, this mare can do it all. She shows in halter, hunter pleasure, show hack, jumpers, dressage and eventing. She is 15.1 hands tall and carries a
black color gene. She was brought to us by her owner 3 years ago to be bred to Fyre One. We liked her and the black filly she produced so much that we bought them both! See this gorgeous black filly,
BF Valentine Fyre, who is now competing in the open hunter
shows. Narkise had a black filly by Fyre One on January 20, 2000. This filly,
BF Moon Fyre, is already winning in open dressage
classes and produced an incredible black colt by NV Beau Bey in 2004, foal. Narkise produced a gorgeous grey colt,
BF Majik Fyre, by Fyre One in January, 2002.
And, introducing..... mares selected specifically for breeding
of the first Knabstrupper horses born in North America.
The Knabstrupper is a European warmblood horse from Denmark that is colored like the American Appaloosa. Sonesta Farms has selected
top quality mares and has bred them to what may well be the #1 Knabstrupper stallion in the world, the wonderful Apollon who
was bred in Denmark and then lived most of his live in Germany at
Gestuet Falkenhorst. Learn
more about the Knabstrupper by clicking the following links.
American Knabstrupper
Association

Horse World Article about Knabstruppers
Article
from the Danish Knabstrupper Registry (KNN) on the history of the breed.
We are very sad to report that the great Apollon died
on September 29, 2005, of apparent heart failure.
This wonderful stallion was the foundation of the entire Knabstrupper breed in
North America and will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on through
his many foals all over the world.
Apollon, #1 Knabstrupper stallion in the world & foundation sire of our
Knabstrupper breeding program.
Macarn's First Encore - "Annie" is a daughter of the
Knabstrupper stallion, Apollon, and out of Gypsy Queen. She was one
of the first Knabstrupper foals born in N. America. She is a 16.2 hand
black based few spot mare with lovely movement. She is approved for breeding
Knabstruppers by the RPSI and the American Knabstrupper Association. In 2006,
she had her first foal, a stunning black near leopard Knabstrupper filly by Tzigane
that we named Tzarina.
This foal was so special that we immediately bred her back to Tzigane and hit
the jackpot again with the birth of Tzshamrock,
another near leopard filly! She is approved for breeding by RPSI and AKA.
Gyspy Queen – Gypsy is an awesome tri-colored leopard spotted mare with very nice conformation and excellent movement. Thus far, she has produced 100% colored foals and we believe she will continue to do so. Gypsy has been approved by the RPSI for breeding Knabstruppers. She gave birth in April, 2002, to a gorgeous black snowcap filly by Apollon,
named Macarns First Encore, in 2003 gave us
Macarns
Applause, a black based few-spot Knabstrupper colt by Apollon and in 2004
gave us Macarns Triple Mocha a spectacular bay
leopard spotted colt by Apollon that earned a Gold Premium at his RPSI foal
inspection! She is approved for breeding by RPSI and the AKA.
Joker Jill – This mare is a real love. She is a liver chestnut leopard spotted mare. A very well built, solid mare with lots of reach, she has a temperament to die for. She is a wonderful riding horse and has the smoothest trot we’ve ever ridden. Jill was approved by the RPSI for breeding Knabstruppers and was placed in the main mare book. In March, 2002, Jill gave us the first Knabstrupper born in North America – a lovely bay filly with a large
blanket, named Macarns American Beauty. In 2003, she
gave us a very loud leopard Knabstrupper filly named Macarns
All that Jazz. She is approved for breeding by RPSI and the AKA.
Blue Moon Again – Moon is a stunning few spot mare who recently wowed the German
RPSI inspectors with her movement and class. She was, of course, approved for
breeding Knabstruppers. She is a 100% color producer and gave birth in 2002 to Waps
Neon Moon, a spectacular few spot colt by Wapspotted that was sold as a stallion prospect.
In 2004 we hit pay dirt when she gave us a very loud black & white leopard
colt by Apollon we named Macarns Black Confetti.
In 2005, she gave us an almost solid black Knabstrupper filly that should spot
out later. She is approved for breeding by RPSI and the AKA.
Miracle
in the Mist - M&M is a
daughter of Blue Moon Again
and out of the wonderful TB stallion, Digamist. RPSI inspectors loved her
and approved her for breeding Knabstruppers with high marks for her movement and
type. In 2003, she produced Waps Moonshine, a
drop dead gorgeous black and white snowcap colt by Wapspotted that is a definite
stallions prospect. In 2004, she produced Macarns Chocolate Mist, a drop
dead gorgeous colt with minimum spots, but maximum conformation and
movement. She is approved for breeding by RPSI and AKA.
