Sonesta Farms Sport Horse Breeding

Long time breeders of top quality sport horses for dressage and show jumping, Sonesta Farms also breeds Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Sometimes referred to as "the Ultimate Snob Dog," these gorgeous and loving dogs have been bred for centuries as companion dogs for the Aristocracy. Paintings dating from the 1600's show these lovely dogs cavorting across the fields or just curled up at the foot of their royal human families. Our goal is to produce the best quality Cavaliers for show and pets, emphasizing health and temperament above all else. Occasional puppies will be available to pet homes.

We are members of the American Kennel Club, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA,  Cavaliers of the Midwest and the Cavalier King Charles Club of Greater Houston.  All our Cavaliers are double registered with both the AKC and the CKCSC, USA.

About the breed: Classified with the American Kennel Club as a toy breed, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel averages 13-18 pounds and 12-13 inches at the shoulder. They have large, round, dark brown eyes and long, silky hair on their ears, tails, bellies and legs, which does not need professional grooming. They come in four colors: Blenheim (shown above) is a rich ruby red and pure white, the Tri-color is black and white with tan spots on the eyebrows, cheekbones, and under the ears and tail, the Ruby is a rich, solid red with no white, and the Black and Tan is a solid black dog with tan on the eyebrows, cheekbones, nose, under chin and on the chest, down all four legs, and under the ears and tail. There should be no white on this dog.

A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is equally at home romping through a field or cuddled up quietly on your lap. They are extremely good-natured dogs who love everyone and seem to have no thoughts that anyone or anything could ever hurt them. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary that, when outdoors, they always be on a leash or in a fenced yard. Their large, limpid dark eyes and sweet face make them eternally puppy-like in appearance.
